Our Curriculum
At Little Woodlands, our curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to grow strong roots for bright futures. We believe every child is unique, full of natural curiosity, wonder and potential. Our aim is to nurture confident, resilient and independent learners within a calm, loving and home-from-home environment.
Rather than following a pre-written scheme, we have created our own bespoke Little Woodlands Curriculum. Drawing on our years of knowledge and experience, we have carefully broken down the Early Learning Goals into small, achievable steps. From this, we have developed our own Little Woodlands Learning Goals, shaped around what we believe children should achieve and experience during their time with us — not just to prepare them for school, but to equip them with the skills, confidence and life experiences they need beyond it.
What Makes Our Curriculum Special?
Our curriculum is enriched with meaningful, real-life experiences that help children apply their learning in purposeful ways. For example:
- Inclusive communication, including the confident use of Makaton during daily routines
- Intergenerational sessions, building empathy, kindness and strong community relationships
- Cooking classes, promoting independence, resilience and healthy lifestyle awareness
- Forest school and outdoor learning, developing a love and respect for nature
- Sports sessions, supporting strong fundamental movement skills and teamwork
- Community safety learning, including road safety and recognising important signs
Every experience is carefully planned with clear intent, thoughtful implementation and measurable impact, ensuring children make holistic and academic progress during their time with us. By the time children leave Little Woodlands, they are confident communicators, emotionally aware, physically capable, and ready to embrace the next stage of their education with enthusiasm and self-belief.
